I think that sometimes birthdays are taken more lightly than they should. We replace the thought of someone special in our life, or even ourselves, being born, existing, with what present will outdo last year's present or the overload of Facebook notifications taking precedent. It's mind boggling how wrapped up we can be in the materialistic gestures than the "I am thankful this person was born and in my life" gesture. Well, there is one person my brothers and I are SO incredibly thankful for and would like to recognize- for today is...
the birthday of our beautiful mama!!!
Although two and a half hours separate us from physically celebrating a special day as this, she knows that I am and always will be rejoicing, no matter where I am in the world. As a small sentimental gift, we have decided to share why we are glad she was born 43... I mean, 21 years ago ;)

As a mother of three children, she has put herself last countless times. We know there are times she wanted to do things with friends or travel to see her family in California and Maryland, but she always made sure we were provided for first and physically, mentally, and emotionally there for us when we needed her and, most importantly, when we thought we didn't need her. She's always been forgiving, understanding, and loving. She's had our backs and taken our side even when we didn't deserve it. When times were tough, and they have been tough, she has been strong for us. She's had her moments of weakness, as she is only human herself, but as much as she has been there for us, we will always be there for her.
Everyone has a bad day, a rough day, an ugly day, a dark day. Coming out of those days is what matters most. No matter what pain, sadness, and loneliness she may have been through- whether it be last week or years ago, big or small- she has always managed to see the light to a happier place and a happier HER. It may have taken days or even months for her to realize that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, but I commend her for pushing everyday until she reached that light.
Amongst the crowd, she stands out from the rest. Beautiful. Glowing. Unique.
Our mom truly knows how to represent the phrase "from trash to treasure". She can take the most simple things and showcase them to be the most beautiful items. I envy her simplistic taste with a touch of elegance.
Honestly, this is posted just because it's so darn cute and I love it! She even has the cute little old school straw canister! She's so crafty in her ways and decoration style... I can't wait to get a house and outdo her! Haha, just kidding... but seriously...
Something like this displays how unique and crafty our mom is. She takes so much time and pride in everything she creates, but you can see for yourself that the results are worth it! This one never settles for less when it comes to artsy-fartsy projects!

Something I personally know I can count on when I come home is delicious home-cooked meals. { I mean, I guess anything tastes great when it's not Kix cereal and ramen noodles for breakfast, lunch, and dinner 7 days a week...! }
Last, but not least, I am thankful she has found someone that supports her in all she does and loves her for who she truly is. { Just like I am sure my mom would say about me } She may have a pretty face, but her personality takes a special person to love... and ain't a darn thing wrong with that! :) In all seriousness, we are so happy she has found someone that has made her laugh again and enjoy life. It's very easy for someone to say they love you, but it should be just as easy for that someone to show you, day in and day out, how in love they are with you. We're glad you found that person, Mom, because you deserve nothing less.
We are so thankful to have you in our life and there are a million other reasons we are happy today is your birthday! Most importantly, we are happy that you are alive, well, healthy, and still with us everyday. We have and always will love you, Mom!
Love,
M.N.M.
